Simon and His Merry Maiden

Once upon a photo shoot, there was a lovely maiden named Rosie engaged to a warmhearted man named Simon. A Robin Hood inspired garden wedding seemed only right, given that their first date was a picnic in Sherwood Forest outside Nottingham, where the two met in college.  The couple moved to Chicago and started planning the loveliest of garden weddings, tying in their British heritage and their mutual love of their favorite childhood film, Robin Hood.

The setting was Bishops Hall in Oak Park, Illinois, and it made the perfect backdrop with its ivy walls and dark stone terrace.  Colors of gold, forest green, and ivory were drawn from the childhood classic, as were smaller details.  Golden arrows on handmade place cards, menus, and invitations gave a nod to Robin Hood lore, and wording from the children’s movie was integrated into the programs and signage.  The focal point of the photo shoot was the reception table, which evoked the enchantment of Sherwood Forest with its wood elements, lush greenery, and soft candlelight.  Also, in typical English style, we incorporated afternoon tea as well as hats for guests to don at the reception. Our couple fit their roles to a “T”, and they were so cozy that we almost forgot it was all make believe!

“Working on my recent shoot with Rachael Wilson seemed like a walk in the park. She handled every detail from top to bottom. She was a complete professional and handled the day with ease and grace. I've already put her down in my book as my future wedding planner when I find a toad to kiss and call a prince!”
