I am Rachael Wilson,

Founder & Chief Wedding Designer


I think I am a pretty easy person to figure out.  I love relationships.  I love a good story.  And I love creating.  It may sound simple, but most of the passions in my life can fit into one of those categories.  I adore my husband, I am an avid reader, and I find calligraphy very relaxing (though it’s not much to look at!).  I love my family (but hate that we live so far apart!), baking chocolate chip cookies while listening to Taylor Swift (who definitely must have read my high school diary when writing her first few albums), writing, bonding with my girlfriends, and anything to do with chocolate.  Ah chocolate…the make-anything-better-kind-of-treat.


I design weddings because it really combines all three of my passions.  I get to build great friendships with the people I work with, and help support them in the relationships that are precious to them.  I love nothing more than to find out all the glorious details of their love story and then find the most creative way possible to share that story with their friends and family on their wedding day.  Who wouldn’t love that?!

In case you want the skinny on me…I grew up in the lovely state of Colorado and then earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Oklahoma (Boomer Sooner!). I married my high school sweetheart before my senior year of college, and once we graduated, we packed our bags for Southern California, where my husband attended grad school. I began my career by working in human resources for a large dental company, which was a really great experience (except that I am now obsessed with people flossing their teeth).


After four years in California, we moved to Cambridge, England, where my husband finished up his education with a doctorate, and I continued on in HR. Three years later, we moved again, this time to Chicago, and it will take an act of God to get me to pack up another moving box any time soon! Seriously, we love this city! 


Throughout my professional career, I gained a lot of invaluable skills, but I also found outlets for my creativity.  It was in California that I started planning events.  I began planning women’s retreats and marriage conferences at my church, and then I started planning small corporate events at my office.  Once we moved to England, I spent half my job organizing company awards events, company Christmas parties, and eventually I even became the editor of our internal magazine.  While corporate events were fun, they missed the relational dynamic I loved.


I planned and designed my first wedding in 2010, and I knew I had found my real passion.  After years of doing what I love in a part time capacity, I am overjoyed to devote my full time and attention to my clients and to help them prepare and celebrate their one-of-a-kind love with a one-of-a-kind wedding.
